ICAF (International Community Arts Festival) is an initiative of the Rotterdam Neighbourhood Theatre, and takes place every three years in Rotterdam. It brings together community arts practitioners from all over the world to exchange ideas and to inspire one another to keep going.
Last year, the 8th edition of ICAF was cancelled due to COVID-19 but now it’s back with a more intimate setting -- a “MINI-ICAF”. And for the first time, the festival will be programming from two ICAF HUBS: Rotterdam and Singapore!
Drama Box is delighted to be the very first international ICAF Hub outside Rotterdam, and we will be taking this opportunity to showcase some of the community arts and community arts-based work in Asia.
At a time when international borders are closed and social distancing present community-based artists with difficulties in carrying on with their practice, it is especially pressing to find new ways of connecting with people who live in different worlds.
Besides the Singapore Hub, ICAF is also presenting programmes from their hub in Rotterdam. Across the two time zones, programmes will be round-the-clock for two days.
