You are encouraged to choose a tier that you can comfortably contribute to, even during the early bird period.

Till 7 Sep 2025

From 8 Sep - 30 Sep 2025 (registration ends 30 Sep 2025)
  • Standard: $1,000
  • Supporter: $1,200 (for those with greater financial means - helps subsidise the community tier)
  • Community: $800 (for those in need of a subsidised rate)

This workshop is pending approval for SFC eligibility. Once approved, all Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their SkillsFuture Credit to pay for eligible courses. Find out more here: www.myskillsfuture.gov.sg

"Theatre of the Oppressed" (TO) is a system of theatre making developed by Brazilian theatre master Augusto Boal.

Used by movements worldwide, it sparks sociocultural change by turning dialogue into action. It invites people to act, speak, and think together in a fair and equal space.

This Level 2 Breaking the Silence workshop builds on Level 1 but is open to anyone with some TO experience who wants to deepen their practice.

If you are a social or community worker, arts educator, theatre practitioner, educator, or facilitator looking to add creative methods to your work, or if you are passionate about social justice and want to improve your relational, facilitation and communication skills, this is for you!

This five-day workshop will focus on:

  • “Rainbow of Desire”
An advanced Theatre of the Oppressed technique that helps uncover hidden feelings, personal struggles, and how larger systems of oppression affect us inside and out.
  • Devising and rehearsing a Forum Theatre play
Learn how to create and practice interactive plays where the audience becomes part of the story to explore solutions to social issues.
  • The art of jokering
Understand the important role of the joker or facilitator who guides the Forum Theatre session, encourages participation, and helps the group reflect and act together.
“Theatre is a form of knowledge; it should and can also be a means of transforming society. Theatre can help us build our future, rather than just waiting for it.”
Augusto Boal
